Sports - Music - Drama - all cornerstones of life at Hitherfield!
Physical education is a fundamental part of life at the school. Students participate in cooperative games such as soccer, football and baseball that promote sportsmanship, skill development in many areas and a love of sport. Intramural sports run throughout the year and students are also given the opportunity to try out for various teams and compete with other private schools in tournaments throughout the G.T.A. All sports take place outside on our 80+ acre property or inside in our well-equipped gymnasium.
All students in Grades 1-3 participate in swimming classes at 'Making Waves' in Milton in both the Spring and Fall terms. Students in grades 4-8 enjoy rock climbing as part of their phys. ed program at Aspire Climb in Milton.
Music & Drama
All students from pre-school to grade eight have music classes twice a week. Our youngest children are introduced to rhythm instruments and xylophones. From grade one to grade four they learn the recorder and from grade five to eight they play woodwind instruments rented through Long and McQuade.
Singing, as well as music theory and history are integral parts of the program. We have a fully-equipped theatre which includes state of the art sound and lighting systems and we’re very proud of our May Plays which include every student from junior kindergarten to grade eight. Our May Plays are one of the highlights of our school year.
